VISA ON ARRIVAL EVERY ONE FROM AUS NEED THIS

* A Tourist visa is required ( called Visa On Arrival ) and as Australians you purchase this as you go through to ( but Just before ) the Immigration check out at Denpasar  airport. This lasts for 30 days and costs US $25.00 which you can pay in Aus  dollars, remember to get this before you stand in line at immigration or you will be sent back to get it. I do not know at what age this kicks in, if u know pls advise via the comment box.

* Entry requirements for Visa On Arrival

Passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 (six) months as from the date of entry into Indonesia. A friend of ours was recently refused permission to board his aeroplane to Denpasar because his passport expiry date came under the 6 month expiry between booking and boarding. There is no compensation for a mistake like this.

Onward or return tickets are compulsory.                                                                                       Your hotel or accomodation address is required.                                                                   There are no compulsory vaccinations.

To get your VOA visitors to  Bali enter through the following:                                                Air - Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar, there is a new international being built up near the old Capital City of Singaraja, eventually.                                                                                    Sea  - Benoa and Padang seaports.

*  When you leave Bali to come home there is a exit tax of Indonesian 150,000 Rupiah and to be paid in Rupiah. This is about  Aus $20.00. We put this aside in our hotel safe with our passport. All passengers pay this including children.

* There are restrictions on the size of the hand luggage you can take on board the plane. From Air Asia i got this { by the way we traveled with Air Asia } All guests (except infants) are allowed only one (1) piece of hand carry luggage on board provided that it does not exceed the dimensions of 56cm X 36cm X 23cm and does not weigh more than 7kg” The following link is for Qantas  * Qantas Baggage * so check with your own airline.

* There are restrictions on what you can carry in your hand luggage. As i do not have a complete list check with your airline, i have included some websites to help.                            Liquids, aerosols and gels.                                                                                                            The following extract is from the Australian Government website and for the full page clicktourist visa bali here   * Australian Gov Website*    Liquid, aerosol or gel products must be in containers of 100 millilitres/grams or less. The containers must be carried in one transparent, resealable plastic bag. The four sides of the bag’s sealed area must add up to no more than 80 centimetres (e.g. 20×20 cm or 15×25 cm). The plastic bag must be the type that can be sealed and resealed with a sealing mechanism, like a sandwich bag or freezer bag. No flammable liquids allowed.                                                                                                 Dangerous Items.
Dangerous  items should be obvious and include knives, razor blades, nail files, letter openers, knitting and crochet needles, corkscrews, metal scissors and basically anything that can harm another passenger.  Use the following links from the * Australian Gov Prohibited Items *  and * Qantas Dangerous-Goods *

* Your hand luggage will be scanned and if you try to take things on board the plane that you should not it will be confiscated.

* It is easier to pack shampoo and medication etc not required for the flight or anything else into  your suitcase.

* Use your common sense and all should be ok, there are many thousands of people going on overseas holiday every year with out fuss and enjoying them selves.

* One thing to remember, illegal drugs in Indonesia carry the death penalty if caught, do not do it!

* When you get there and if your hotel is not picking you up you will need transport, particularly groups and or families. Bali is 8 degrees south of the equator and can get hot and sweaty which means airconditioned transport is needed. Phone our adopted drivers for wheels.

I am heading to Bali next week , travelling alone . I have not been to Bali before. Would it be safe to go out at night alone ? Any tips for a woman alone?
BTW I have been on the web researching for a while and this is the best website by far. Thanks so much.
Also if anyone has any must do’s in Bali ( cultural etc not night clubs) I would really appreciate your feedback.

    Hello Alli
Sorry to take so long in replying, the only tips i can get from daughters is it is the same in Bali as here and that going out alone should be avoided, especially at night.
The main entertainment strip in Kuta at night should be ok as there is usually a lot of people around otherwise go with some one. It is no different to Australia in that
you need to aware of your surroundings.
One of the best parts of our trip was staying overnight at http://www.marariversafarilodge.com/ The pictures are exactly what u get, even the picture from the Restaurant
with the lion in the background, there is only sheet glass between you and real nature.
I am going back to Bali at the end of July and as i am not a night life person i will be checking out Sanur, i have been told it is quite and i can walk around without the street
    pests that hang around Kuta.
Let me Know how you went and if you found any interesting places to go.
    Cheers John

Lucky I checked your site out. I thought the minimum time the passport had to be valid was 3 months not 6. My passport will only be valid for 4 months when I leave. Hopefully I can sort it out!

  9. Stevie says:

I will be travelling to Bali for the first time in 26 days (not that im counting).
I will only be taking hand luggage over but will be returning with a suitcase. I will be taking medication on the plane as i require it once a day. Will i need to carry a letter from my doctor explaining the use of the medication? A friend obtained one for a holiday to NZ and i am enquiring if something similar is necessary for Bali.

  10. Valencia says:
