When we decided to go to Bali there were no Special Offers that included airfare and accommodation available so we shopped around airlines and hotels on the Internet and booked airfares via Budget carrier Air Asia { for a three and half hour flight from Perth why pay top price } and our hotel via web booking site Expedia. Planing our trip like this we went when we wanted, came home when we wanted and things worked out cheaper than advertised specials.
We can only write about where we have stayed which were at two different hotels for different reasons. There are lots of places to stay depending on what you want, you can have budget digs, a family size chalet, a hotel or a very expensive hotel/resort and many variations in between. Anne-marie and Mother wanted 4 star accommodation and Me and Jackie were happy with 3 star, i think that beside the price there is very little difference between 3 star and 4 star in Bali.
We decided on a hotel because we wanted some degree of comfort, security, hot water and of course air conditioning. Looking for a hotel to stay at we searched via Google and found places all over, most of these were web sites selling pre bookings { on sellers }. I found the web site for The Bounty Hotel, it looked good and i wanted to go there but was talked out of this as it runs partying and loud music 24 hrs which = no sleep. Fortunately this hotel was fully booked for weeks ahead so onward we searched and found hotels that we liked only to find that there were no rooms on the dates we needed. Jackie found the place we eventually stayed at the All Seasons Resort Legian * http://www.bali-indonesia.com/all-seasons-legian/ * { but again no vacancies on our dates } . Jackie finally remembered a Australian booking site she used touring England. The site is * http://www.expedia.com.au/ *and on it we found the All Seasons Resort Hotel which was what we wanted at the dates we wanted and at a cheaper price – yippee at last.
What we learned from this is when you find a place you want to stay at and can not get into it, try a different booking site. Shopping around will give pricing variations and check to see if breakfast and tax { 21% } is included as this is a major variation on price. Ring or email them direct as there maybe specials going the booking sites do not have. For us breakfast at the hotel was a major benefit as the food was good and saved us from going out to find a place where we could trust the food for ourselves.

I agree, you must look around. Prices can very as much as $50 US a night, if the hotel have an agreement with a certain wholesaler or travel agent. Sites such as:
Wotif
Expedia
Booking.com
RatestoGo
AsiaHotels
Travelocity
These are just some of the ones you can look at, I booked today and saved heaps by shopping around. Always look at the inclusions though, some seem really cheap but you then find out there is no breakfast, room service and housekeeping daily. Do your research and you will have a better holiday!
Agoda is a great site for accomidation!

having been to Bali several times we often look at deals direct with hotels and airlines on line first then copy them and take to various travel agents and play them against each other….they’ll give me travel insurance what are you offering etc this gives us great deals often better then booking direct without having to give out credit details and often extra off by paying in cash…..practice haggling at home first on prices. Remember it’s your money make them work for it!
yes i agree doing it yourself saves alot of money. im booked for the 25th oct this year flying with jetstar, i got a great deal with them cos they were having a two for one sale on, cost me $525 for two people return. I found agoda the cheapest out of all the websites and easy too. I am also staying a the All Seasons for 5 nights, two nights in the bali hai tide huts on Nusa Lombongan and 3 nights in Mecure Kuta. thought i would mix it up a bit
im so excited and looking forward to as it is my first time.
Thanks for the info on your website it is very useful.
Hello Zoe Its is good to hear from you, can let me know what your impressions of the All Seasons are. We did enjoy our stay there although the swimming pool was a little cold. The bali hai tide huts look interesting, i may check it out on our next visit..
Cheers John
